Swedish Massage

What is Swedish Massage?

To touch or rub an injury, or to hug a loved one, is an instinctive reaction and the importance of touch in physical and mental health has been widely researched and proven. Due to the constraints of our busy working environment and the increase in technology, touch in the modern world is decreasing, so people are turning to massage as an advanced form of the instinct to touch and heal.

A Swedish Massage uses the therapists hands as the massage tool.  Using carrier oils the therapist hands apply as much pressure that you want, whether you want a gentle massage or a firm one all you have to do is ask.  Through my hands I can sense tensions and stresses as we tend to hold these within our muscles. Its these areas I concentrate most on.

What are the benefits from Swedish Massage?

During a Swedish massage, various hands-on techniques are used by me for your physical and psychological benefit which may include: -

  • Improved circulation to muscles, reducing inflammation and pain
  • Deep relaxation, relieving mental and physical fatigue
  • Improvement of mobility and promotion of correct posture
  • Release of chronic back and shoulder tension, and backache
  • Easing of neuralgia, arthritis and rheumatism
  • Improved digestion and the relief of constipation
  • Stimulation and drainage of the lymphatic system flushing out toxins and waste
  • Prevention and elimination of headaches
  • Encouragement of deep sleep through the reduction of insomnia
  • Triggering brain chemicals that can reduce pain and induce a sense of well-being.

Swedish Massage can benefit almost everyone, but it has been found to be particularly effective in helping stress-related disorders. A course of treatments can result in increased vitality and energy levels and an enhanced feeling of well-being.

Consultation and treatment

Your first appointment begins with a consultation to enable a full assessment of your needs. This will enable me to plan an individual course of treatment which will be carried out in complete privacy, where all personal details remain completely confidential.

What happens after the treatment?

Here’s a list of Aftercare Advice;-

·        You will need to drink plenty of water

·        Try to avoid tea, coffee or alcohol for 24 hours

·        Try to get plenty of rest

·        Eat a light meal after treatment

·        Try to reduce stressful situations

Ok I’m interested, where will I need to go?

You don’t go anywhere, I come to you.

What will I need to provide?

All you need to provide is a relaxing, warm and private area within your home.  Somewhere you’ll not be disturbed by others or a ringing phone.  Preferable an area with low lighting as this helps you relax more, but this is not necessary.  I will need quite a bit of space for my massage table, about the same space as a 3 seated sofa and enough space to walk round it (minimum 3 sides). Access to an electrical outlet my MP3 player so we can play some relaxing therapeutic music.

How long will my massage last?

Your massage will be around 45 to 60 minutes and in additional there is the time it takes to set up the couch, make up your oil, your consultation and then to pack up at the end so I will be in your home for around 1.5. Your first session could be around 20 minutes longer due to the in-depth consultation needed.
